Azerbaijan received the CIS flag and is preparing to host the III CIS Games.

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) flag has been formally presented to Azerbaijan in anticipation of the III CIS Games, which will be held in the country in 2025.

The symbolic handover took place on August 13, 2023, during the official closing ceremony of the II CIS Games in Belarus. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Igor Petrishenko, presented the CIS flag which had toured ten Belarusian cities hosting the Games to Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev. The first CIS Games were held in Kazan, Russian Federation, in 2021, followed by the II CIS Games in Belarus in 2023.

Azerbaijan is scheduled to host this prestigious sporting event from September 28th to October 8th, 2025. The opening ceremony will be held in the city of Ganja. The Games will encompass 23 sports and will be contested across seven cities in Azerbaijan.
